Strategic & Tactical PR - Fairchild Semiconductor
As Director of West Coast Operations for a major Marketing
Communications firm, Edward J. Vasquez developed and
implemented public relations strategies for Fairchild
Semiconductor.
Fairchild is one of the firms credited for the birth of
Silicon Valley. Over the years, several acquisitions resulted
in the firm losing its magic and in the eyes of the media, it
no longer was considered a major technology player. The media
saw the company as a commodities player, someone who solely
manufactured and sold product. Innovation was not a word
synonymous with Fairchild. Our goal was to change that
perception.
Working closely with the Analog and Power divisions, product
press releases took on a tone of more than just
announcements. They became tools to position Fairchild as a
leader in Analog and Power.
Ongoing dialogue with key editors around the world pitching
Fairchild's capabilities and innovative products helped
reinforce the messaging. Placement for exclusive internally
written articles was secured.
Press Tours were conducted with Technical Marketing Managers
in order to pitch, face to face, key
product announcements. The meetings were also an
opportunity to convey
the firm's innovative advancements and engage in product
positioning dialogue with key editors.
Coverage of the company's Analog and Power divisions nearly
doubled, while at the same time editors
began to see Fairchild as more than just a
"commodities" company, but rather one that could
compete against the likes of Texas Instruments, International
Rectifier and Maxxim Technologies.
