founded as a local buy and sell classifieds marketplace by one
of eBay's early team members. ejv communications was brought
in to assume, develop and execute all marketing related
functions.
Working with a company still in its infancy, we developed the
plans to answer the proverbial question, "what comes
first, the chicken or the egg?". We immediately
recognized that users would only use and/or return to the site
if they saw and found immediate value, with value defined as
being able to purchase or sell an item. We developed and
executed on a strategy to "stock the shelves" and
have users find value through the sale of items they listed,
or through the purchase of items that they were looking for.
Prior to our arrival, the three month old site was averaging
on a daily basis about 50 new listings and 30 new registered
users. By month six we had generated a "buzz",
delivering on a daily basis one thousand new registered users,
more than 1200 new listings a day and nearly one million
visitors a month. And positioning
the company in less than a year to receive an offer from a
VC for several million dollars.
